Stravinsky comes from the powerful Nureyev sire line and was a very accomplished racehorse in his own right. He was the 1999 Champion European Sprinter & finished top of The 1999 International 3YO Classification (sprint).
To date Stravinsky has produced seven Group One winners worldwide. In New Zealand his progeny have earned over $4,383,000 in stakes. In Australia his progeny have won over AUS$12,379,000 in stakes.
The sire of winners across no fewer than 29 countries, they include 59 individual black type winners.Stravinsky's key performers in Australia this season alone - include Bird of Fire (dual Gr.2 & Gr.3 winner), Miss Maren (Gr.3 & LR winner), Kirvinsky (LR) and Miss Scarlatti (LR).
His other progeny include Keeninsky, (So Keen by Jade Hunter) who now stands at stud himself. Trainer Stephen Autridge described Keeninsky as 'The fastest horse ever to enter our stables, he did it all so easy and his 'turn of foot' was unbelievable!'
He has also produced 2007 Longchamp Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp (GR1) winner Benbaun (IRE)(Escape to Victory(Salse)), 2007 Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee Stakes (GR1) winner Soldier's Tale (Myrtle (Batshoof)) and the outstanding Serenade Rose (AUS)(Rose of Tralee (Sadler's Wells) who won the 2005 VRC Oaks (GR1), 2006 STC Arrowfield Stud Stakes (GR1) and the 2006 AJC Australian Oaks (GR1).
Stravinsky's achievements already in his stud career include being champion first-season sire in the United States and in New Zealand in 2004, champion second-season sire in New Zealand in 2005, the champion 2yo sire in New Zealand in 2005/06 and third leading general sire in New Zealand in 2005/06.

In the sale ring Stravinsky was the sire of the $2.2 million top-priced lot at the 2006 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales at Karaka with the colt (ex Grand Echezeaux) bought by David Ellis of Te Akau Stud.
He was the leading sire by aggregate at the 2007 New Zealand National Yearling Sales at Karaka where he had 37 lots sold for an aggregate price of $NZ6,762,500 at an average price of NZ$182,770. He had the second highest priced lot sold at these sales with a colt ex Ethereal selling for $1.3 million.
In 2008 his yearlings averaged $169,886 at the New Zealand National Yearling Sales. He had 22 lots sold for an aggregate of $3,737,500 and a top price of $330,000.
Stravinsky did not return to New Zealand in 2007 due to the Equine Influenza outbreak in Australia. His return from Japan was not possible again last year due to the quarantine protocols. The return of Stravinsky is seen as a massive bonus for the New Zealand breeding industry. The Nureyev stallion is utterly-proven and his progeny continue to be highly commercial in the selling arena.
