The Robert Hickmott-trained four-year-old Vesper became the latest black type winner for Zabeel when taking out yesterday’s Clamms Seafood Victoria Gold Cup-LR (2000m) at Caulfield.
Zabeel now has 135 individual black type winners to his credit, 93 of which have been successful at Group level according to figures provided by Arion Pedigrees (www.arion.co.nz).
Vesper has now won 4 of his 11 starts and has been placed on 4 occasions for his owners, Nick and Mr & Mrs Lloyd Williams.
Bred in Australia by Paulyn Investments Pty Ltd, Vesper was a A$300,000 graduate of the 2008 William Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
Vesper is from the Danasinga mare Sylvaner, who won 6 back type races and is herself a half-sister to Centisle, whose 6 wins include the SAJC Goodwood Handicap-Gr.1.
