In winning yesterday’s A$185,000 Tooheys New Newcastle Gold Cup-Gr.3 (2300m), Stratofortress become the latest & 62nd individual black type winner for his sire Stravinsky.
Stravinsky shuttled from Japan to Cambridge Stud last year for stud duties, but hasn’t returned this year and is unlikely to do so in the future.
Stratofortress (ex Instantly, by Spectacular Love) is prepared by Gai Waterhouse and yesterday’s success was his 7th. He’s also been placed 10 times and has prize money of A$288,950.
Bred by Dame Sian Elias, Hugh Fletcher & Alan Galbraith, Stratofortress was sold by Rich Hill Stud for $120,000 at the 2006 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Premier Sale. The buyer was Mr K Yoshida of Japan.
