Yesterday’s impressive winner of the A$500,000 MRC Thousand Guineas at Caulfield, Atlantic Jewel, becomes the 14th individual Group One winner from a Zabeel mare.
The unbeaten filly was much too good in the 3YO filly feature, leaving trainer Mark Kavanagh quite amazed with the performance.
Atlantic Jewel, by Fastnet Rock, is from Regard, herself the winner of 2 races. The Guineas winner is her first foal to race. The second dam, Nanshan (Nashwan) was placed in Great Britain & has left 7 winners. The third dam is Pass the Peace (Alzao) who won the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket and has left 8 winners including two black type winners.
