Cambridge Stud-bred
Berio (Zabeel x Abbaye), pictured below, has proved too good for his rivals to win the HK$850,00 Cassia Handicap (1400m) at Sha Tin racetrack in Hong Kong on Saturday.

The four-year-old gelding has been a model of consistency all year in Hong Kong and this was his second win to go with six placings. He is trained by David Hall and was ridden in Saturday's race by top jockey Oliver Doleuze.

Berio jumped well from the barrier and then took a lovely trail behind the leader, Wei Hai Invincible, during the early stages.

Soon after entering the home straight Berio and Doleuze took control and then safely held their rivals at bay. Second home was Rice Field while third home was Grand Dancer.

Berio's dam, Abbaye, also produced the Group 2 winning sprinter, Taimana, and this is the same family as the Group 1 winners, Danewin and Emerald Dream, as well as the talented Group 3 winner, Commands.
