Big margin for debut winner by Zabeel

12 Sep 2012

La Zuma (Zabeel ex Countess Chloe, by Anabaa) looked a 3YO filly with a future when winning her debut today at Ballarat by three-and-a-half lengths.

Prepared by Mike Moroney, La Zuma won in the hands of Luke Currie over 1200m in a time of 1.13.00 on a slow track.

La Zuma’s dam, Countess Chloe won three races and has left two other winners in Euro Chic (Dehere) and Shalaka (Lonhro).

The third dam is Eau d’Etoile (Sir Tristram), a Group 3 winner in New Zealand and placed third in both the NZ Oaks-Gr.1 and Queensland Oaks-Gr.1.  At stud Eau d’Etoile did a fantastic job leaving 7 winners including the Group One winners Bint Marscay (STC Golden Slipper Stakes) and Filante (Epsom Handicap & VATC Yalumba Stakes).

La Zuma was selected by Paul Moroney at the 2011 William Inglis Easter Sale, costing A$230,000.
