Cambridge Stud shuttle stallion Power has claimed a debut winner at the important French 1000 Guineas meeting.
The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained debutante La Michodiere was a fitting winner of the €30,000 Prix de la Michodiere at Deauville.
Jockey Christophe Soumillon was impressed with the three-year-old winner, commenting: "She's a good filly with quality and can progress further."
La Michodiere is the first foal from High Chaparral mare Lady Gray, a winning half-sister to Gr.3 Prestige Stakes winner Sesmen.
There was also a first-crop Classic victory for Power on Sunday when Lubos Urbanek saddled Sir Sun to win the Czech 2000 Guineas.
Power will return to Cambridge Stud for the 2017 southern hemisphere breeding season, standing at $12,500 plus GST plus live foal guarantee.
In announcing the fee last month, Cambridge Stud boss Sir Patrick Hogan said: "He's second overall leading sire of New Zealand-based sires of two-year-olds and he's leading first-crop sire for New Zealand and England.
"He's had a Group Two winner here in Gift Of Power and she's returning to work shortly in preparation for a campaign aimed at the 1000 Guineas.
"Power sold up to $380,000 at Karaka at an average of $171,000 and that was all from a $9000 service fee."
