Consistent Stravinsky Filly Gains Black-Type

7 Mar 2009

The ultra consistent
Stravinsky filly
Kirvinsky (NZ) achieved black-type dues at Flemington on Saturday, racing home for a narrow win in the Listed Moomba Plate (1100m). Placed in all five of her previous starts (including a 3rd in the Gr.2 SAJC Janz Hcp ),
Kirvinsky (NZ) had all bar one in front of her at the midway point of the race, but responded gamely for Craig William's, eventually drawing level with the leader
Damselfly (AUS) with 75m to run.

Stride for stride to the post, fate proved kind to
Kirvinsky (NZ), with the Colin & Lindy Alderson-trained 3YO putting in the decisive bob of the head to score by a nose. Owned by LB Alderson and W Chitty,
Kirvinsky (NZ) was purchased for $70,000 in Australia and has now returned A$166,150 in earnings.

Bred by Barry Taylor,
Kivinsky (NZ) is out of the unraced
Scenic mare
Kirtlington, a producer of four winners from five to race and dam of the Listed winner
Kalamata.

To the top line of the winner's pedigree,
Stravinsky, who will stand at Cambridge Stud next season, is the sire of 53 stakes winners (7 at Gr.1 level) and is well distinguished with a 68.8 per cent winners-to-runners ratio.
