NZ-breds provide trifecta in HKG3

Able One (NZ) makes it three black type wins on the trot.

Able One (Cape Cross ex Gardenia, by Danehill) won his third black type race in a row when taking out last night’s Prince Jewellery Premier Cup-HKG3 at Sha Tin from fellow New Zealand-bred gallopers Aashiq (by Viking Ruler) and Thumbs Up (by Shinko King).

During April Able One took out the International Group One event, the Champion’s Mile and three weeks earlier won the Chairman’s Trophy-HKG2.

Bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan at their Cambridge Stud, Able One was a $270,000 graduate of New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2004 Ready to Run Sale from the consignment of Janine Dunlop’s Phoenix Park.

Aashiq (NZ) chased Able One home last night.  Purchased by Lance O’Sullivan for $40,000 at the 2007 Karaka Carnival Sale, the 4YO is prepared by Paul O’Sullivan and was ridden by Jeff Lloyd.  From the Rory’s Jester mare, Join the Fun, Aashiq is a half-brother the Group-placed Finderskeepers, a Keeper 3YO prepared by Richard and Judy Collett at Pukekohe.
