Cup Day winner for Lucky Unicorn

8 Mar 2011

The Bruce Wallace-trained Pat’s Trick (Lucky Unicorn ex Dawn Run, by Sir Tristram) looked a juvenile of promise when taking out the Barfoot & Thompson 2YO Handicap (1100m) today at Ellerslie on Stella Artois Auckland Cup Day.

Pat’s Trick becomes the second winner for Lucky Unicorn from only four first-crop two-year-olds to step out on race day.

The sire’s first winner was Bacio Francese, while he’s also been represented by the placegetter Oscar Wilde.

Pat’s Trick was bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan at Cambridge Stud and was offered at last year’s Karaka Premier Sale.

The colt is a half-brother to the Group Two winner Beat The Fade and the Group Three winner Dawn Till Dusk.
