The 3YO fillies Full of Spirit and Atlantic Jewel, both impressive winners at Royal Randwick last Saturday, have a common link in that they are both from Zabeel mares.

Roger James saddled up Full of Spirit (Flying Spur ex Imposingly, by Zabeel) to win the Adrian Knox Stakes-Gr.3 (2000m) in the hands of James McDonald.  It was the filly’s third win in nine starts and first run in Australia.

Atlantic Jewel (Fastnet Rock ex Regard, by Zabeel) was explosive in winning the Sapphire Stakes-Gr.2 (1200m) for Mark Kavanagh and Michael Rodd.  The filly is now unbeaten in six starts including the Group One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.

Zabeel has a commanding lead in both the Australian Broodmare Sire Premiership (A$1,111,304 in front of Danehill) and the New Zealand Broodmare Sire Premiership (NZ$976,887 in front of Centaine).
