The Cambridge Stud colours opened Karaka Milion evening in style when Dance Card claimed the first event.

Trained for Cambridge Stud principals Brendan and Jo Lindsay by Lance Noble, the four-year-old came from the back of a small field to claim the Karaka Cup.

“That was a really good win. She’s only won three races, but her fourth in the Dunstan Final was strong,” Noble said.

“Michael (Dee) rode her perfectly and next year I think she might be a cups’ mare.”

Dance Card settled at the tail before Dee peeled three wide near the turn and she was gallant in the straight.

“We were in front a long way out and my mare showed good fight,” he said.

“All the reports were that she had been working well and it was a good effort.”

By Savabeel, Dance Card is a daughter of the Group placed Danehill Dancer mare Dancing Attendance and was a $260,000 Karaka purchase.

The dam is a half-siter to the multiple Group Two winner Precedence and the family of the late Tavistock.
