Eight Carat Family In Spotlight Again

20 Sep 2008

The famous Eight Carat family was again very much to the fore with the win by promising Ruakaka-trained galloper
Naadji in a 1600m event at Pukekohe on Sunday.

Naadji has the wonderful Eight Carat family on both sides of his family.

His sire,
Viking Ruler, stands at Cambridge Stud and is a Group 1 winning son of Danehill. Viking Ruler's dam is the dual Group 1 winner Tristalove who is a daughter of Diamond Lover.

Naadji's dam is the unraced Famous Star mare, Naadirah, whose third dam is Klairessa who in turn is the dam of Habibtii and grand-dam of Eight Carat.

Naadji is trained by Dean and Donna Logan in partnership with Chris Gibbs.

The four-year-old gelding is owned by Karen Sprague from Whangarei. He started hot favourite for the Maramarua Hunt Highweight and had two lengths to spare over his rivals at the finishing line.

It capped a notable double for
Viking Ruler's progeny in New Zealand over the weekend with thee-year-old Perky Parrot having won at Hastings on Saturday and Fast Ruler winning at Ballarat in  Australia on Sunday.  .

Viking Ruler is now the sire of 35 individual winners including six individual stakes performers.

He stands at Cambridge Stud again this spring.
