Four Australian Winners In One Day For Zabeel

18 Jul 2009

The current season has been one containing numerous milestones for Zabeel, so it was fitting that he should sire four winners in

Australia
yesterday.(18.07.09)

The successful horses were Deacon (5g ex Trolley Dolly @ Eagle Farm), La Zeel (5m ex Kingstonette @ Eagle Farm), Stop the Traffic (6g ex Argyle @ Moe) and Tadgh (5g ex Irish Truce @ Moe).

Zabeel has sired 11 individual black type winners this season around the globe and 8 of those have been group winners.  His progeny have won three group one races - Maldivian (Cox Plate & Orr Stakes) and Fiumicino (The BMW).  Zabeel has now sired four individual WS Cox Plate winners (Octagonal, Might and Power, Savabeel and Maldivian) -  a record that no other stallion can match (

Star
Kingdom
comes closest with 3 Cox Plate winners).

Zabeel has a total of 121 individual stakes winners to his credit (Sir Tristram has 130); while his number of black type wins has climbed to a staggering 292 (Sir Tristram has 287).

Zabeel is set to claim his 13
th Dewar Award Trophy, which honours the
New Zealand stallion whose progeny has won the most prize money in both
Australia and

New Zealand
during the season.  For the record, Sir Tristram won 9 Dewar Awards.
