Gr. 1 Winner For Stravinsky

8 Oct 2007

Connections of the seven Stravinsky (USA) two-year-olds on offer at November's New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale received an added bonus on Monday morning, when the sire's outstanding son Benbaun (IRE) raced home to collect the Gr.1 Prix de l'Abbaye (1000m) at Longchamp in France.

Winning by two-lengths, the victory represented the talented six-year-old gelding's third group win from his last three starts and his 12
th career win overall.

A Gr.1 winner himself, Stravinsky (USA) commenced stud duties at Cambridge Stud in 2000 and since this time has produced the six Gr.1 winners Serenade Rose, Captivate (NZ), Keeninsky (NZ), Balmont (USA), Soldiers Tale (USA) and Benbaun (IRE) along with 37 other stakes winners.

Stravinsky (USA) was awarded the Champion NZ Sire of 2YO's in 2005/06 and enjoys a 64 percent runners-to-winners ratio having had 371 winners from 577 to race.

Unfortunately due to the equine influenza crisis in Australia, Stravinsky (USA) will not shuttle to Cambridge Stud in 2007.
