Group One Quinella For The Stock of Stravinsky

16 Apr 2010

The front-running Time Keeper (Stravinsky ex Organdy, by Our Emblem) became the 8th Group One winner for his sire with a dominant win in today's Easter Handicap (1600m) at Ellerslie.

Time Keeper joins Serenade Rose, (Mr) Baritone, Keeninsky, Captivate, Benbaun, Balmont and Soldier's Tale as winners at the elite level of competition for Stravinsky, a stallion who began his Southern Hemisphere stud career at Cambridge Stud in 2000.

Time Keeper is one of 61 individual black type winners by Stravinsky.

Second placed November Rain (Stravinsky ex Lady Teruko, by Kris S) came from a rearward position to run second in the Easter Handicap.  It was her first run since claiming another Group One second in the New Zealand Oaks (2400m) at Trentham Gardens last month.

Stravinsky returned to Cambridge Stud on the shuttle run last season, but will not be back from his Japanese base in the coming season.  It is possible that the last of Stravinsky has been seen in this hemisphere.
