Jack Tims Back In Spotlight At Matamata

21 Apr 2008

One of New Zealand's most successful owner-trainers, Jack Tims, was back in the spotlight on his home course at Matamata today when the Keeper three-year-old gelding,
Keeping, was successful in the Mead Auto Trimmers and Upholstery Maiden (1400m).

Keeping (Keeper x Kharibiya) broke through for his first win and in doing so became the 67th individual winner sired by Cambridge Stud-based sire Keeper. The tally of winners for Keeper has risen dramatically this season and as well he has sired two Group 1 winners in 2007/08 namely Insouciant and Keepa Cruisin.

Tims has had a long involvement with horse racing and was very much in the headlines as the trainer of 1996 Auckland Cup winner Senator who finished fourth in the 1996 Melbourne Cup.
