Keeparose Scores Overdue Win

10 Sep 2008

Keeparose (Keeper x Glittering Riffles) has finally cleared maiden company with a well-deserved win at the Foxton Racing Club meeting on Thursday.

The Howie and Lorraine Mathews-trained mare had been racing very consistently in recent starts. In fact she had not finished further back than fourth in her previous six race-day outings.

Keeparose started hot favourite for the event and was ridden by Buddy Lammas.

In registering the win Keeparose became the 81st individual winner sired by Keeper (Danehill) who stands at Cambridge Stud, Cambridge.

Keeper was the champion sire of 3yos in New Zealand for the 2007/08 season. He has sired six individual stakes winners headed by last season's Group 1 winners Insouciant and Keepa Cruisin.

Keeper has been represented by winners in eight different countries.

The win by Keeparose came hard on the heels of a magnificent win by smart three-year-old filly Keeper Special in a Listed fillies race at Wanganui last weekend.

The dam of Keeparose, Glittering Riffles, is a US-bred mare by Strike The Gold from the black-type winning mare Lock's Dream.
