Vengeance Of Rain has received a special life-time achievement award at the Hong Kong Jockey Club's champion horse awards ceremony held on Tuesday.

Vengeance Of Rain, a six-time Group 1 winner, was the Horse Of The Year in Hong Kong last year as well as champion stayer and most popular horse. He received his latest accolade from the awards ceremony's judging panel.

Vengeance Of Rain (ex Danelagh) was retired from the racetrack in February and returned to his birthplace, Cambridge Stud, in New Zealand.

The biggest win posted by David Ferraris-trained Vengeance Of Rain during his racing career came in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic at the World Cup meeting. He amassed stake-earnings of more than NZ$12 million.

Originally named Subscribe, Vengeance Of Rain was purchased by Graeme Rogerson on behalf of Lloyd Williams for $300,000 at the 2002 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Sale.

He was a Listed winner in Australia as a two-year-old in the Williams colours before being sold, renamed and carving out a wonderful career in Hong Kong.
