Lovetrista Lives Up To Rich Breeding

Cambridge Stud-bred filly Lovetrista lived up to her regal breeding by recording black-type success in the Listed $55,500 Soliloquy Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.

Lovetrista is bred in the purple by Rock Of Gibraltar from dual Group 1 winner Tristalove and was having only her second start in Saturday's feature after having finished a handy third at her debut earlier in the month.

Her owners are Cambridge Stud "boss" Sir Patrick Hogan, New Zealand Rugby Board chairman Jock Hobbs and New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing chairman Guy Sargent along with businessman Graeme Jackson.

Matamata trainer John Sargent said Lovetrista has a "touch of class" and will have her next start in either the Wellington Guineas (1500m) at Trentham on October 27 or the Listed James and Annie Sarten Memorial (1400m) at Te Rapa on October 23.

Then she will go on to contest the Group 1 New Zealand One Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton in November.

Lovetrista is a great-grandaughter of the champion broodmare Eight Carat and is a half-sister to the stakes winners Viking Ruler, Kempinsky and Diamond Like.

Second home in the Soliloquy Stakes was Keepa Cruisin, who is by Cambridge Stud sire Keeper, and is a half-sister to last season's New Zealand Horse Of The Year Seachange.
