Trained by Karl Burke (pictured), Magic Cat raced just behind La Brigitte and Dyspol Kylie before taking command in the final furlong, galloping a length and a half clear of Total Gallery. Salsa Star took third.

One Cool Cat now has five individual stakes winners from his first Northern Hemisphere crop. The others have been Smokey Storm, Knavesmire, Diglett and Icesolator. This first Northern Hemisphere crop boasts 18 individual winners.

One Cool Cat is standing again at Cambridge Stud this spring and has a full book of mares. He has made an impressive start with his first Australasian runners performing well at the trials. He has a trial winner in both Australia and New Zealand last week.

His first New Zealand race-day runner, Smart Cat (ex American Cash), finished second on debut in the Ford Two-Year-Old at the Riccarton meeting on Saturday.
