The emergence of Stravinsky as a prominent broodmare sire gained further momentum at the weekend when Mosheen (Fastnet Rock ex Sumehra, by Stravinsky) grabbed a late decision in the ATC Royal Randwick Guineas-Gr.1.

It was the third Group One victory for the Robert Smerdon-trained filly who has also won the VRC Australian Guineas and VRC Oaks.

Mosheen’s dam, Sumehra was bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan.
She is a winning half-sister to the Hong Kong Derby winner Lucky Owners and this is the immediate family of the champion Zabeel galloper Might and Power.

Mosheen is one of two multiple Group One winners from Stravinsky mares; the other being Rip Van Winkle, Coolmore Stud’s Galileo horse who shuttles to Windsor Park Stud.

According to figures provided by Arion Pedigrees (

), Stravinsky is currently the dam sire of 144 individual winners from 249 runners worldwide.
Consistent with Stravinsky’s international standing, the winning progeny from his mares has been spread across no less than 21 countries.
