Six O’Clock News became the latest addition to Zabeel’s long list of Group One performers when running third in yesterday’s $500,000 Stella Artois Auckland Cup (3200m) at Ellerslie.

The seven-year-old has had a tremendous season for trainers Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young, winning both the Wellington Cup-Gr.2 and Trentham Stakes-Gr.3 during the summer.
He’s the winner of 8 races and now has prize money of $567,000.

Bred by Graham, Helen-Gay and Kylie Bax in conjunction with Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan, Six O’Clock News is a son of Maurine (Harbor Prince), herself a dual winner of the Avondale Cup-Gr.1.

Maurine’s own sister, Maurita, won a New Zealand Oaks-Gr.1 and went on to leave a Japan Cup winner in Marvelous Crown (Miswaki) and a Hollywood Turf Handicap winner in Grand Flotilla (Caro).
