Precedence A 7 Length Winner At Flemington

13 Mar 2010

Cups King Bart Cummings will no doubt be setting his sights on big things in the Spring after he saddled up Precedence (Zabeel ex Kowtow, by Shadeed) to score a runaway 7 length victory at Flemington yesterday over 2000 metres.

It was the third win for Precedence who looked promising a year ago at three when placing second in the VRC St Leger-LR (2800m) behind fellow Zabeel horse Berlioz.

Bred by Bloomsbury Stud NZ, Precedence is from Kowtow who has left five winners including The Raj (by Grosvenor) who won 4 races and was placed third in the NZ 2000 Guineas-Gr.1.

The dam of Precedence is a half-sister to the dam of (Lord) Tavistock who also won at Flemington yesterday, taking out the Group Two Blamey Stakes in the hands of Jason Waddell.

This is the family of

Jupiter
Island
(St Paddy ex Mrs Moss, by Reform) whose 14 wins was highlighted by success in the Japan Cup-Gr.1.
