Sir Patrick's Three Derby Runners

Sir Patrick Hogan is excited about the prospect of having three runners in tomorrow's $2.2m Telecom New Zealand Derby-Gr.1 at Ellerslie. 

Sir Patrick has shares in three horses from three different stables, namely On The Level (Murray & Bjorn Baker), Yourein (John Sargent) and Encosta Diablo (Jason Bridgeman).

Hogan races On The Level with long-time friends Alistair Sutherland, Tony Timpson and Peter Walker.  The son of Align came into

Derby favour when running home strongly for second in the Avondale Guineas-Gr.2 (2100m).

The same group of owners race Yourein, an Australian-bred son of Reset and It's You (by Celtic Swing).  The gelding comes into the

Derby with a black type win in the ARC Great Northern Guineas Prelude-LR (2100m) and a third placing in the ARC Championship Stakes-Gr.2 (2100m).

Encosta Diablo (Encosta de Lago ex Devil's Lair, by Sir Tristram) has a record of 4 wins from 10 starts including a Listed Race success at two years.  He was fifth in Jimmy Choux's NZ 2000 Guineas-Gr.1.
