The New Zealand-bred galloper Oracy (NZ) (Zabeel x Lady Dehere by Dehere) will look to seal Grade One estimations this weekend when he steps out in the Champions Challenge (1200m) at Turffontein on Saturday.

Unbeaten in his first five career starts, including victories in the Grade 2 Dingaans Handicap (1600m), and the Grade 2 Gautang Guineas (1600m), the four-year-old son of Zabeel has yet to claim the prized victory at Grade One level in three subsequent attempts.

A $400,000 yearling consigned by Cambridge Stud, Oracy (NZ) is prepared by prominent South African trainer Charles Laird.

Oracy (NZ) was bred by Maroal Services Ltd (Ron and the late Margaret Saunders) together with Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan of Cambridge Stud.

Oracy's (NZ) sire Zabeel has previously enjoyed the limelight in South Africa courtesy of his outstanding son Greys Inn.

Greys Inn was the champion 3YO Classic Colt of South Africa in 2004.
