Stravinsky Leading 2YO Sires List

12 Dec 2008

Shuttle stallion Stravinsky is the leading sire of two-year-olds in New Zealand for the 2008/09 racing season.

His latest 2yo winner came at Te Rapa on Saturday came when the promising Graeme and Mark Sanders-trained The Lady was victorious in the Listed Fairview Ford Stakes (1100m).

Sir Patrick Hogan breeds from The Lady's dam, very fast race filly Lady Dehere, in partnership with Takapuna owner Ron Saunders. Lady Dehere has been in the headlines lately in South Africa where she is the dam of the Group 2 winner, Oracy, who won the Turffontein Dingaans Handicap.

The Lady has won her last two starts in Listed races worth $60,000 and $55,000 respectively. The earlier Listed race win for her came in the Counties Challenge Stakes at Pukekohe.

Saunders named The Lady after his late wife, Margaret.

Cambridge Stud will offer a Viking Ruler filly at Karaka next month from Lady Dehere.

Stravinsky's other winner at Te Rapa on Saturday was Spirits Bay (ex Amidala) who won the Rich Hill Stud Premier.
