Iron horse Benbaun (Stravinsky ex Escape to Victory, by Salse) won his 8
th black type race when taking out last Sunday’s Sapphire Stakes-Gr.3 at The Curragh in
Ireland
.
Voted Champion Older Sprinter in Great Britain in 2006 and Champion Older Sprinter in Ireland and France in 2007, Benbaun has won 13 races in all including a Group One; six Group Threes and a Listed Race.
Benbaun’s Group One victory was the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp in
France
in 2007.
The eight-year-old has stepped out a total of 47 times and apart from his 13 wins he has recorded 15 minor placings.
Stravinsky is currently the sire of 535 winners from 767 runners worldwide.
He has 56 individual black type winners to his credit and Benbaun is one of seven Group One winners by the sire.
Stravinsky returns to Cambridge Stud in the coming season after a shuttle run absence of two years.
