Two of the most potent thoroughbred sire lines in Australasia once again provided a successful cross when
Keepereel was successful in the Frucor Maiden at the Taranaki meeting at New Plymouth on Saturday.
Keepereel's family traces back to the champion 2yo Australian filly of 2005, Fashions Afield, and the three-time Group 2 winner Rose Of Danehill.
She was the rank outsider of the 10-horse field at odds of 23-to-one in the New Plymouth race and was ridden by Kelly Myers.
Richard Bishop owned, trained and bred Keepereel is another fine example of the proven success of the Danehill/Sir Tristram cross.
Keeper, who stands at Cambridge Stud, is by Danehill while the dam of Keepereel is the Zabeel mare, Zaquabeel, who was bred by Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan, of Cambridge Stud.
