The $2 million top-priced yearling,
Sun Ruler (Zabeel x Sunline) has gone an encouraging trial at Paeroa.

The Stephen McKee-trained 2yo finished third in a trial at Paeroa last week over 700 metres.

"He hit the ground a bit slow but made up a lot of ground in the trial," said McKee.

Soon after the horses crossed the finishing line Sun Ruler was in front of his rivals.

Among the owners of Sun Ruler are Auckland property magnate Don Ha, Sir Patrick Hogan of Cambridge Stud and Trevor McKee, the former part-owner and trainer of Sunline.

Sunline (Desert Sun x Songline) won 32 of her 48 starts in an outstanding racing career with her victories at Group 1 level including the Cox Plate in 1999 and 2000. Sun Ruler was born on Cox Plate day two years ago.
