Support For Cambridge Melbourne Cup Day

21 Oct 2009

Cambridge Stud owner Sir Patrick Hogan has shown his support for the inaugural Cambridge Melbourne Cup day at Cambridge Raceway on Tuesday November 3 by donating two major auction items.

The first is a chance to buy at auction a much sought after service to one of New Zealand's current leading sires, Keeper, who stands at Cambridge Stud at a fee of $12,000 plus gst.

This service to Keeper can be taken up by broodmare owners either this year or next year and comes with a live foal guarantee.

Keeper has achieved many outstanding results during his career at stud and in the 2009/10 racing season the Group 1 winning son of champion sire Danehill is currently:

·         The leading sire of three-year-olds in New Zealand with his leading performer being the outstanding 3yo filly, St Germaine - winner of the Gr. 3 Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings and runner-up in the Gr. 2 Hawke's Bay Guineas.

·         Fifth overall leading sire on the New Zealand sires premiership.

·         The leading sire in New Zealand by winners and wins with 15 individual winners of 17 races this season.

KeeperKeeper has been one of the most successful sires at stud in New Zealand in recent seasons. He is already the sire of 81 individual winners - including 10 individual black type winners featuring the Gr. 1 winners Keepa Cruisin, Linky Dink and Insouciant. He has sired winners in nine different countries.

Sir Patrick Hogan has also kindly offered for auction a 10 per cent racing interest (with no further costs) in a well-bred 2008 Cambridge Stud filly. This will be raced by  Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan who will select a filly from the 2008 fillies that they are retaining to race. Cambridge Stud will pay 100% of the racing costs.

The 10% racing interest can be "owned" by up to four persons but the bidder must be at the auction at Cambridge Raceway.  The successful owner/s will receive 10% of any net Stake money won by the filly.
