Heir of Tavistock has started his summer campaign in hot fashion and looks just the type to continue his progression.
Trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra produced him for a bold first-up victory at Echuca this week.
It was a tidy performance from the four-year-old, who won with authority under 58.5kg over 1400 metres.
The son of Tavistock’s two previous successes had been over a mile so more ground in the future will be ideal.
Heir Of Tavistock was purchased by his trainers for $200,000 at Karaka and is out of the winning Centaine mare Procure.
She has also produced the Gr.2 Reisling Stakes winner Hips Don’t Lie, the dam of the Gr.1 Golden Slipper Stakes placegetter Lake Geneva.
It’s also a family that has done well in New Zealand, most notably with the Gr.3 Mr Tiz Trophy winner No More Tears.
