Tavistock Filly on Oaks Path

Tavistock Filly on Oaks Path19 Feb 2019

The Tavistock filly Spring Delight confirmed a likely tilt at the Gr.1 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai New Zealand Oaks in March at Avondale this afternoon.
Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Spring Delight entered Avondale’s 2100m contest with four placings to her name from five starts and made lightwork of her opposition, finishing under Matthew Cameron with 2 ¾ lengths to spare.
“The blinkers were the making of her today. She’s been knocking on the door, so it was good to see her knuckle down and get the win today,” said Forsman.
“We made the second payment for her in the Oaks this week, so it was good to see her finish over distance like that today.
"From here, we’ll just see how she comes through this race, but she could potentially back up in the Vase Saturday week."
