Here’s a first-crop Tavistock weanling colt with an interesting pedigree behind him. He’s the first foal of the Stratum mare Maldivius, herself a half-sister to Bryannbo’s Gift (by Zabeel), who won 3 races and was stakes-placed at Randwick.
The second dam of this weanling colt is Dantelah (by Volksraad), winner of 8 races including the VATC Oakleigh Plate-Gr.1.
The photo was taken by Cambridge Stud’s long-time photographer Jenny Kain. She took the picture 30 March and at the time this colt had only been weaned off his mum for around 2 weeks.
Tavistock’s fee for the upcoming season has been set at $10,000 + gst. The son of Montjeu has enjoyed solid support from his high-profile syndicate of owners, and breeders alike, in his first two years at stud. Tavistock covered 221 mares combined in 2010 & 2011.
