A foal which is likely to be one of the most valuable born on a New Zealand farm this season, arrived at Cambridge Stud this morning.
The filly, a bay by Zabeel from Jesmonds Gift (Magic of Sydney) is a half-sister to the Stravinsky filly which made $740,000 (David Ellis, Te Akau Stud) at this year’s Karaka Premier Sale. She’s also a sister to the filly which made $800,000 (BBA, Ireland) at the 2011 Karaka Premier Sale.
Jesmonds Gift is a half-sister to the Golden Slipper winner and successful sire, Canny Lad. She’s also a half-sister to Canny Lass who won three Group One races before leaving the stakes winners Causeway Lass and Astute Angel.
Another big name appearing in this family is Sepoy, the Golden Slipper winner of 2011 and ranked Australia’s Champion 2YO of that season.
So far 17 foals have been born at Cambridge Stud this season. A sub-menu button to the foaling information can be found on the home page of this website. Information is updated on a daily basis throughout the breeding season.
