Zabeel Among Leading Australian Broodmare Sires

27 Jun 2008

Not only has champion Cambridge Stud stallion
Zabeel once again been among the leading sires in Australia in the 2007/08 season but he has also made his mark in the same country as a broodmare sire.

Zabeel, pictured below, is the fourth leading general sire in Australia in the 2007/08 season. Zabeel has appeared in the top 10 Australian Sires (by progeny earnings) every season since 1996, heading the list twice and has only been out of the top five in 2003.

Zabeel has the same slot (fourth) on the list of leading broodmare sires in Australia in the 2007/08 racing season.

As a dam-sire Zabeel has had progeny earnings of A$4,839,455. The leading earner has been Doomben Cup winner Sarrera who has picked up earnings of A$664,735 in the 2007/08 season.

The only sires ahead of Zabeel (by Sir Tristram) as a broodmare sire in Australia in the current season are Danehill, Defensive Play and Centaine who are all deceased.

Zabeel stands again at Cambridge Stud in 2008 at a fee of $100,000 plus gst.
