Zabeel had a major part to play in the result of today’s A$300,000 Wakeful Stakes-Gr.2 at Flemington, with the winner Atlantic Jewel being from a Zabeel mare and the second horse, Rahveel, being by the sire.
Atlantic Jewel remains unbeaten and will look to add the Victorian Oaks on Thursday at Flemington to her 1000 Guineas success a couple of weeks ago.
Rahveel (Zabeel ex Sarah Vee) was game in second position, though no match for the winner. Rahveel was raised and sold by Curraghmore Stud at the 2010 Karaka Premier Sale.
