Figures produced by Arion Pedigrees (check out their fantastic new-look website at http://www.arion.co.nz/home.aspx) reveal that Zabeel has sired more individual Group One winners this season than any other stallion.
Zabeel leads the way with four; Jessicabeel (Sydney Cup), Zabrasive (Rosehill Guineas), Efficient (Turnbull Stakes) and Zavite (Auckland Cup).
Sharing second with three Group One winners apiece are Fastnet Rock, High Chaparral and Volksraad.
Sharing the third line of achievement at the elite level are the following stallions with two individual Group One winners apiece; Testa Rossa, Johannesburg, Pentire, Pins, Red Ransom, Redoute’s Choice, Montjeu, Encosta de Lago, Street Cry, Viscount and Scenic.
Zabeel remains in terrific heart at Cambridge Stud and will cover a strictly limited book of 50 mares next season at a fee of NZ$100,000 + gst. Sir Patrick Hogan reported to NZTM this week that only a couple of nominations remained available to the Champion Stallion.
