Zabeel On Track In New Season

17 Sep 2008

Champion New Zealand stallion Zabeel has made a flying start to the 2008 breeding season.

Sir Patrick Hogan of Cambridge Stud, which is home to Zabeel, said the son of Sir Tristam's fertility early in the new season is very pleasing.

"Two of the first three mares he has covered this season have tested in foal," Sir Patrick said.

"It is exciting to see him get these positive results and it looks like he is set for another successful season at stud," he said.

The two broodmares in foal to Zabeel are both owned by Cambridge Stud. These are Danger Point (by Danehill) and Berlin Tango (by Last Tycoon).

In 2006 Zabeel experienced some fertility problems at stud. However, he was back on track last year serving a full book of mares and recording excellent fertility results.

Zabeel is the sire of 39 individual Group 1 winners and more than 100 individual stakes winners to date in his stud career. He sired last year's Melbourne Cup winner Efficient and his other notable performers include Octagonal and Might And Power.
