Zabeel looks to have put the New Zealand Broodmare Sire Premiership in safe keeping after last Saturday’s NZ Derby-Gr.1 and Lowland Stakes-Gr.3 were won by horses from his daughters.

Silent Achiever (ex Winning Spree, by Zabeel) proved that she was the best 3YO in the land with a dominant win in the $750,000 Telecom New Zealand Derby, while Planet Rock (ex Akris, by Zabeel) furthered her lead in the NZB 3YO Filly of the Year Series when proving too good in the mud in the $70,000 Lowland Stakes.

Progeny from Zabeel mares have won $2,077,759 in New Zealand alone this season according to figures provided today by Arion Pedigrees (www.arion.co.nz).  Zabeel is more than $890,000 clear of his closest rival, Centaine.

It will be the first time that Zabeel has won a Broodmare Sire Premiership during his long and illustrious stud career.  For the record, he continues to lead the Australian Broodmare Sire Premiership, being more than A$818,000 clear of his nearest rival, Danehill.
