Regally-bred galloper
Zabene (Zabeel x Emerald Dream) has scored a well deserved win at the Canterbury meeting on Saturday.

His dam, Emerald Dream, was a high-class racemare who scored a memorable win in the Group 1 Whakanui Stud International at Te Rapa during her racing career when trained by Murray Baker. She won seven races at distances ranging from 1200m to 2000m.

Zabene is from the Eight Carat family which has produced so many fine gallopers and has had a huge influence on the Australasian breeding industry over the past couple of decades.

Zabene is raced by a partnership which includes major race sponsor Sam Kelt and Bruce Perry.

Zabene is from the stable of the country's leading trainer, Mark Walker, of Matamata.
