Zavite all heart

Zavite showed all the courage which had previously seen him win an Auckland Cup and an Adelaide Cup when outgunning Descarado by a half-head in today’s A$400,000 Ranvet Stakes-Gr.1 (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney.

Zavite set the pace in the Ranvet, was headed by Descarado, but lifted gamely for rider Glen Boss.

“He’s a wonderful racehorse,” said a delighted trainer Anthony Cummings, who added that the eight-year-old son of Zabeel would race next in the A$2.25m BMW Stakes-Gr.1 on the same track in two weeks time.

Zavite was bred by Fairdale Stud in Palmerston North and is from an international family which has been responsible for the likes of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner, Suave Dancer.
