10 length trial winner for Tavistock

29 Oct 2013

A colt from the first crop of Tavistock raised more than a few eyebrows when winning his first trial at Waverley yesterday by no less than ten lengths.

Trained by Gary Vile at Awapuni, the colt from Douzaine (Minardi) romped away in the hands of Jonathan Parkes, clocking 35.46 seconds for the 600m trip.

Bred by Richard Moore, the colt’s dam Douzaine is a half-sister to the Group One-winning Eileen Dubh.  Other Group One winners in this highly-successful family are Culminate, Captivate and Solveig.  The fourth dam of yesterday’s trial winner is Soliloquy, the winner of 13 races including the Lion Brown Sprint-Gr.1.

Gary Vile purchased the Tavistock-Douzaine colt at the 2012 NZB National Weanling Sale for $14,000.
