The Jason Bridgman-trained Adalia (Lucky Unicorn ex Ajfan, by Woodman) became the 16th individual winner for her sire when successful in the hands of James McDonald today at Taupo.
It was just the second race day outing for Adalia who had a 1200m pipe-opener at Pukekohe last month. Stepping up to 1800m today, the four-year-old mare got home in a tight finish.
Bred and raced by Peter & Philip Vela (Pencarrow Stud), Adalia is from the excellent mare Ajfan who was dual Group One-placed in England. She has left 9 winners to race, the best being Big Maverick (by O’Reilly), Singapore’s Champion 3YO Sprinter of 2008 and Champion Older Stayer in that country in both 2009 & 2010.
