Zabeel is now the sire of 41 individual Group One winners, thanks to the effort from the John O’Shea-trained mare Jessicabeel to take out the Sydney Cup from fellow kiwi-breds Divine Rebel (by Don Eduardo, a son of Zabeel) and Harris Tweed (by Montjeu, the sire of Tavistock).
Zabeel is now just four Group One winners short of the lifetime tally of 45 individual Group One winners sired by Sir Tristram.
Bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan in conjunction with Mrs J C Moody, Jessicabeel was sold through the Cambridge Stud Karaka consignment of 2007.
The buyer was John O’Shea at $220,000.
John O’Shea is looking to the Melbourne Cup in the Spring with Jessicabeel along with her stablemate, Zabrasive, another of the stock of Zabeel to win a Group One race this season.
