Tavi Mac continued his impressive march through the grades this afternoon with further success at Trentham.
The son of Tavistock has won five of his seven starts and will now head for a deserved break.
“He’s done a really good job this preparation and the funny thing is he goes on wet tracks as well as on top of the ground,” trainer Allan Sharrock said.
Tavi Mac was tardily into stride before making ground along the fence under rider Jason Waddell.
The diminuitive four-year-old then rallied strongly in the run home to win comfortably.
“He’s tenacious and a funny wee man, but he’s a really good horse,” Sharrock said.
“He’s a beauty. He eats everything, drinks everything - he should have been an All Black half-back.”
Tavi Mac is raced by co-breeders the McCallum family and is out of the Maroof mare Bellaroof who won on five occasions.
