Above Demolishes Rivals at Sha Tin28 Mar 2020

A son of Tavistock provided the most convincing win of the card at Sha Tin on Sunday evening. Champion jockey Joao Moreira had another memorable day with five winners and non were easier than his win aboard four-year-old Above.

Trained by John Moore, Above couldn’t have been more impressive when he cantered clear to win by six lengths over 2000 metres.

It was a third win of the season and fourth for the career of the David and Mary Bodle-bred gelding, who is a son of Once More.

The dam is a winning daughter of Thorn Park and the family of the former champion filly and four-time Group One winner Snap.

Above was sold through Brighthill Farm’s NZB National Weanling Sale draft in 2016 for $180,000 to Ascot Farm and Ampulla Lodge. Ampulla Lodge then re-offered him as a yearling at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale where he went to the bid of George Moore Bloodstock for $240,000.
