Almanzor 2YO resumes in style17 Jul 2022

Islero made a successful return from a lengthy break this afternoon at Murtoa where the two-year-old delivered a professional to display to open his account over 1200 metres.

Our farm graduate had undergone the ultimate gear change following his sixth placing on debut back in February to return as a gelded son of Almanzor and his sire’s seventh individual winner from his first Southern Hemisphere crop.

Islero was away well for rider Dean Holland to cruise along in midfield and was on the move before the turn. He strode to the front 250 metres off the post and stuck to his guns strongly to strike early in his career.

We sold the youngster through Maluka Thoroughbreds’ draft at last year’s Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale draft for A$70,000 to Freedman Racing and Blue Sky Bloodstock.

He is the first foal of the winning Denman mare Actressa, who also has a yearling sister to Islero that has joined our racing team and a weanling colt by Epaulette sold this year at Karaka to J & I Bloodstock for $10,000.

Actressa is a half-sister to Defining, a Not A Single Doubt filly we bred and she has a brace of wins to her credit and finished runner-up in the Listed Nitschke Stakes.

They are out of a half-sister to the dual black-type winner Nocturnelle, the dam of the G3 Up & Coming Stakes winner Dracarys.
