7 Feb 2023We were thrilled to see our Almanzor filly Marvelouz, who we race in partnership with Haras d'Etreham, gain a richly deserved victory over 1400 metres at Taupo.
Trained by Mark Walker, she had finished runner-up in three of her previous four appearances and comfortably broke through in the hands of regular rider Warren Kennedy.
The three-year-old jumped well to trail the leaders before improving three wide across the top and she lengthened stride impressively in the run home to saunter home by 1.8l.
Bred by Nearco Stud, Marvelouz was purchased out of Curraghmore’s draft at Karaka on our behalf by Te Akau’s David Ellis for $380,000.
She is a half-sister to the G3 Frances Tressady Stakes winner and G1 Queen of the Turf Stakes runner-up Annavisto and to the Listed Morphettville Guineas winner Celtic Tiger.
Their dam is the Exceed And Excel mare Miraculous Miss, a half-sister to the Listed Anzac Day Stakes winner Outdo and the family of our multiple Group-winning three-year-old Polygon.
