Our son of Almanzor, Lot 39, was the second top-seller at $33,000 during New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Online Sale held on the Gavelhouse Plus platform.

The colt out of Montjeu mare Game Duchess was purchased by Central Districts-based trainer Raymond Connors and is a half-brother to Group 3 winners Dark Princess and Exquisite Jewel.

Our Charm Spirit youngster, Lot 74, was knocked down for $29,000 and is a son of the Redoute’s Choice mare Redoute’s Princess, a blood sister to the multiple Group 1 winner and former champion Australian filly Samantha’s Choice.

An Almanzor filly, Lot 11, out of the Dansili mare Aumale and a successful international family sold for $8,750 while an Embellish yearling, Lot 32, was a popular ticket before he was purchased for $22,000.

“He was a well-proportioned, balanced colt out of a Group 2-winning mare. He appears to be very typical of what the sire is leaving and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him up and running early,” our Sales and Nominations representative Cameron Ring said.

The colt is a son of Johar’s daughter Fazzle, who claimed an edition of the G2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes.

“We specifically held all four lots back for the sale for various reasons so it is good to see them make nice prices,” Ring said.

“We always want to provide our buyers with plenty of comprehensive information and to display the horses as best as possible.

“We actively use NZB’s gavelhouse.com and Gavelhouse Plus subsidiaries because we feel the horses tend to get a lot of exposure. We see the online format as a great way to trade horses in this current climate.”
